I would like some help in decorating my holiday trailer. I've gutted most of the inside but now I don't know what to do with the long narrow space with unlevel flooring due to the slide out. I want cosy, open and simple. And inexpensive! I need a living room and a space for eating. Can you help??Thanks.Heather

    What is a holiday trailer?

  • What have you got to work with Heather? Can you share some photos? You can modify the floor to level it out, then I would suggest a vinyl floor. To cozy it up, you can use area or throw rugs. I would shop thrift and second hand shops for chairs and tables that you can make over and arrange in different ways for whatever event or party you are having. Pick colors or a theme that makes you happy! Shop your home first to see what you may already have that you can make over or upcycle.

A photo would be very helpful so we can see what you have to work with.

My dad has a trailer he uses when hunting. He has a fold down table so when not in use it folds down nearly flat against the wall.

The benches or seats all have tops that lift up for extra storage.

I would think if you painted the standard paneled interior that would make it feel more like home. A few family photos might also give it a personal feeling.

Many carpet stores sell left over pieces of vinyl very cheap. That might help with one consistent type of flooring inside. Plus you could pick a color that works for you.

Another thing my dad did was put up a few mirrors. That helped reflect light and make the space seem bigger at the same time.

We made it seem more inviting by taking down the old curtains (if you want to call them that) using them for patterns and putting up new ones that actually looked nice.

A pretty bedspread and throw pillows would add. Just don't go crazy with throw pillows since there isn't a lot of room for storage when not in use.

Try to use something for chairs around your dining table that have other purposes. Like stools that open up for storage and you can use as ottomans' to kick you feet up on.
