Does contact paper withstand water and heat and do they stay long?

Hello Uma. Contact paper is not really designed to use around heat and will hold up to being wiped off with water, but standing water, it will lift from what it's attached to. Contact paper is a plastic product, so it can last a very long time, but only under perfect conditions -- good substrate, dry area and cleaned gently.

Uma, I would add to the previous answer that there are different types of contact paper for different uses. While none would be appropriate INSIDE a microwave, there are specialty papers designed to give the EXTERIOR of appliances a face lift. These are more durable and thicker. You can look at an example of this at EZFauxdecor.com. That is one manufacturer of the specialty contact papers.

As said above, contact paper won't hold up to water or heat. You can apply it, for example, on the face of a bathroom cabinet but not in the shower. You can apply it to a cabinet next to the stove but not on the stove face.

It's a great product for anything that is solid, flat, and indoors!
