How to paint kitchen cabinets white?

Are they stained now? Wash down with TSP and then sand the sheen off. Remove all the hardware, doors and drawers, Mark on back where they go . Prime, lightly sand again then paint. I prefer oil based products. Works best on stained or factory finished cabinets, most durable and washable. No sealers or top coats needed.

Alkyd options require mineral spirits for cleanup, but they provide a hard, durable paint finish. Whichever you use, buy the best-quality paint you can afford for a lasting kitchen cabinet finish. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.
