Vinegar. Pour it in a spray bottle, spray on the mold, wait an hour and scrub off. The vinegar smell will fade away after a few hours. Vinegar is thought to kill 82% of species of mold.

I've been reading articles about activated charcoal killing mold. From what I've read so far, it seems that plain charcoal briquettes will do the same thing-& kills odors, too. Activated bamboo charcoal is very expensive, but if you have the $$$...

I've read lots of articles on both kinds of charcoal....hope the less expensive one works for you, too.

    • If it is coming out of your walls, you have bigger problems. Call your landlord today! And get any kids out of that room asap. Watch for runny nose, itchy eyes, coughing, fatigue, etc. Mold can make you really sick. Without a doubt, there is an undetected leak and the mold is behind the walls and needs to be handled by a licensed mold remediation specialist. Take photos and document everything. If the landlord refuses to remediate, head over to your local HUD office and get help. If you have to, move and hire an attorney to get your landlord to pay your expenses. This is serious and I can't stress enough how urgent this matter really is. If you need more info, let me know, I am happy to help.

  • Hi Veronica - There are several ways to get rid of mold, but most importantly, you need to address the root cause to keep it from returning. This article focuses on the bathroom, but is an overall great article that covers methods of how to remove mold, if bleach is safe to use, and how to prevent it from coming back. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

If you don't find what's causing the mold and fix that specifically you'll continue to see mold appear.
