How do I clean an oven?

    Sandra, if self-cleaning is an option, I would do that first. Wipe off the surface (stove top), remove any items from the top, remove the racks, then turn on self-cleaning and open a couple of windows. When the door unlocks, wipe out the ash.

    If that's not an option, set a glass dish of ammonia and warm water in a warm oven that is turned off. Let sit overnight, then wipe out the residue

    They sell a cheap spray oven cleaner that has very little odor. Spray the back first, then the sides and bottom. Close the door and leave on per instructions. I suggest wearing rubber gloves and wiping it out followed by a rinse with vinegar to get any residue. If you still have stains, you can reapply.
