How can I choose a hall entrance rug?

Hi. We just moved to a new bungalow and l have ordered this rug for our entrance way. I hope l am not wrong but l wanted a rug that would be of a wow factor. Our walls are grey with white trim. We have beautiful round chandelier lights that are a globe above this entrance way. When you come in you can see stairs going down and we put up a picture that has reds, grey and white as you can see in one of the pictures I have attached. Would love to see what your opinion is. Is this tug too much or should we go with a neutral or another colour rug? Look forward to your reply.

Go with RED! Be bold and welcoming!

  • Hi Elaine,

I would head over to Pinterest and search "entryway red rug" or maybe "entryway red accent". This will give you some good ideas and visual examples of ways other people have used red to accent a similar space. Your entryway seems quite closed in, so I would hesitate to put something to dark on the floor. The space already has a dark framed mirror, dark chunky bench and dark door. I would personally want to brighten the space.

I LOVE to add lots of color to my home and think you could do some really fun things with a bold color. You could paint the front door red on the inside and use a neutral rug. Leave the door, get a brighter bench, and add a red rug.

There are a lot of options, but I would just want the space to feel brighter. Here is a Pin that I thought was a nice use of red as an accent but also made the room feel bright.
