Hi Edwinnia, the best recipe I've found is a mixture of 3 simple ingredients. 1 galllon of white vinegar, 1 cup of table salt (or epsom salt), and a squirt of dish washing soap such as Dawn. Mix the ingredients together until the salt dissolves and then place in a spray bottle or a pump garden sprayer and apply directly onto the weeds. Be careful that you don't over-spray onto plants you want to keep. You can use a piece of card board or a box to keep the spray of those. Within a few hours the weeds will start to die and within a couple of days they'll turn brown and can be raked or picked up.
I am lazy. I use: boiling water - I do 2 kettles a day year round. Epsom salt followed by boiling water. Or vinegar in a pump sprayer. I have visiting children and many pets - no chemicals used here.
1qt of 1 quart of white vinegar quarter cup of salt for squirt of dish soap put in a spray bottle shake well
We use this recipe to kill weeds, but it will kill any plant so be careful in your dessert yard where you spray it. Also, it is best to have a layer of wet paper or weed paper down to stop most weeds. Here is our recipe. It is best used on a sunny day. Recipe: 1 gallon white vinegar, 2 cups Epsom salts, 1/3 cup blue Dawn dish soap. Mix and spray in a.m. after dew is evaporated and by eve the weeds are dead.
Hi Edwinnia - The struggle is real, isn't it?!? This is the most effective all-natural weed killer DIY that we use. It's even been featured on Hometalk! Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
