How can one re-use empty plastic flower pots?

I have a bunch of plastic pots of varying size and wonder if anyone's reused them in a way other than planting in them? I also have 2 huge - not sure if they are plastic or resin planters that I wonder if they can be painted. I've cleaned the algea off them with water & bleach so can they be painted and if so, what type of paint will bear the heat and hot sun? TIA

All you can do is try the spray paint made for plastic like Rustoleum brand. I usually just recycle the thin black ones.

I've done that with some success. I say some because it's only been about 1 1/2 years so I'm not sure how long it will last.

What I did was used a decent primer first, then painted over that. Mostly I used Rustoleum spray paints, but be sure they are ok to use on plastic. Quite a few paints will not adhere to certain types of plastic, so label reading is an absolute must! Every paint I've ever seen also has a phone or other contact to call for answers to questions like that. Use them!

Most any exterior paint should work, but I always have Rustoleum cans of various colors on hand so I tried that first and so far, so good. If you can't get that, use a quality exterior paint or an outdoor acrylic or alkyd paint in the color you want. The primer is the determining factor though. I found out the hard way that NOTHING sticks to plastic unless it's primed. And same goes for that --make sure it's ok for plastic.

You mentioned you weren't sure if they were plastic or resin. You might want to find out the difference, if any, and again, a call to the manufacturer never hurts.

Good luck! And have a great day!

You could take for flower pots of the small two larger and paint them and then you can make a lighthouse with them we turn them upside down paint the door on the bottom and light up top

In the garage for organizing like items together.

I would highly recommend RustOleum spray paint. Clean, scuff the current finish, wipe with denatured alcohol, then spray paint.
