I have a bathtub drain that is covered with hard-water build up, Is it possible to clean without having to replace the drain itself? The drain is plastic.....any help would be appreciated!

Pour white vinegar in your tub with the drain closed. Leave it sit for a while and scrub around every little while to break up the loose build up

I would try Diet Coke on that too, or try scrubbing it with Ajax or Comet. If that does not work buy a new one.

The idea of buying a knew one is not the answer I was expecting to get. That is the simple yet most expensive solution. A plumber has to be involved since the bathtub enclosure has to be removed to have access to the drain and that is a costly option I am trying to avoid.
