How do I level out the ground for patio or stepping stones?

Use a shovel to break up and remove ground if it's too high. If you have dips, you might have to purchase soil or move in from another area of the ground.
Using a level to check the ground, making sure you check from multiple angles. You want it to be level in all directions.
