What are the ideal dimensions to use when adding kitchen eating area?

I'm adding an eating area in my kitchen that is "counter-high" not "bar-high".Can someone please tell me what is the "ideal" dimension I should have between the wall and the end of the counter? that is, to be able to accommodate a person without having them hitting their knees against the wall.Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

For countertops, the established standard is for the top of the countertop to fall about 36 inches above the floor. So widely accepted is this standard is that base cabinet manufacturers build all their cabinets to a height of 34 1/2 inches, assuming the countertopthickness will be 1 1/2 inches.Jul 16, 2018

You need at least 3 ft. for the chairs but this is tight. Are there large people who visit often? Then you may want to add more passing room than counter room. If you have regular guests in wheelchairs, the counter height is more important than passing space, in general. I can turn around in a square yard, but some people need more space. But the end of a table or low counter is often the most convenient. Jewell
