How can outdoor carpet be painted?

I have a screened in porch with dark green outdoor carpet. It shows everything, would like to paint it a light beige color. The carpet has no pile. My porch is completely enclosed except for one side that is screened. Is it possible to paint & what do I use? Thank you.

Hi Debbie. I did a bit of reading and learned that you can use Krylon Color Master Paint and Primer to paint your outdoor rug. Begin by setting up a spray area using a drop cloth, old sheets, or anything you have on hand. Make sure it is a well-ventilated area. And, of coarse, use a mask and gloves. Make sure the rug is clean and free of dust and dirt. Begin applying the paint by holding the can 6 to 8 inches from the surface of the rug. Use a sweeping side-to-side motion. Allow the paint to dry at least 10 minutes before applying the next coat of paint. It's better to apply the paint in even light coats rather than one heavy coat. Light coats will give the best result. Good luck Debbie.

Debbie Davis, you can use a brush or a sprayer to paint the rug—just regular outdoor house paint. If you want stripes, use wide masking tape to lay out your design. Use stencils for designs on the rug and other areas. Seal with clear polyurethane and let it dry before using. Jewell

I hope you can use some of the green, for some design interest. Maybe some giant tropical leaves?
