To make your own carpet cleaning solution, combine liquid laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaner, oxygen bleach, fabric softener, and hot water in a bucket. For a mild, non-toxic cleaner that will leave your carpets smelling fresh, mix white vinegar, water, salt, and an essential oil like lemon, lavender, or pine.
Clothes soap works great deluxe with water suck up all dirty water after let dry and vacume
I just use my homemade laundry detergent to scrub my carpets.
Vinegar is all I use. Essential oils are toxic to pets, so be careful. All the detergent and fabric softener recipes, if not rinsed extremely well, will actually attract more dirt and grime. And you will be "cleaning" more often. I have my carpets steam cleaned every 3 months - but I have a lot of pets and visiting children.
