Not to be a naysayer, but although there is nothing wrong with the suggestion above, the problems I've experienced is that there just isn't enough of the oils released from the plants into the air by brushing by them nor to rub on your skin. These certainly won't do any harm, may help, look great and are all natural. But I wouldn't count on them doing very much against most mosquito problems. That may vary with your location and the density of the mosquitoes as well as the types. Growing up, the more common brown mosquitoes were annoying but never overwhelming in number. Their "bites" took a while to start itching and weren't that bad. Where I am now, the Asian Tiger Mosquito is the major player. Unlike "common" mosquitoes, these breed in less than an ounce of water and have become urbanized - no longer confined to the woods and fields and marshes of the great outdoors. They seem to be more plentiful, their "bite" swells up and begins itching almost immediately and itches worse IMHO than others. They also are notorious disease carriers. Check online for prevention steps to take.
Or use patio fans. I have 2 and set them on each side of the patio facing in towards the seating and dining area. Any flying pests stay away as they don't like the breeze.
