Hi Janice,
You can try home solutions, but I would not. This infestation spreads fast.

They have the experience, chemicals, equipment, & trained staff. They know what to do and where to treat. Plus their work has a warranty.
This past year we stayed at an ocean front resort, come to find out our unit had bed bugs on my side of the bed and in the couch. The resort took our baggage and had it treated, took all but the clothes on our backs and laundered everything. For the room they quaranteened it off along with the rooms to each side of it and the rooms above and below.
That should help you with your decision!
Look into trying diatomaceous earth . Safe to use around kids and pets . I got it on Amazon . It has tons of uses for around the house and garden ! Good luck !
We tried using alot of different commercial treatments that were a waste of money. One night my husband said try using OFF. I knew it was safe to come in contact with so I did. I sprayed both of us, the bed frame, the bed clothes, the floors, the walls, the electrical outlets, and anywhere else I could think of. I did this for a week. Apparently the critters didn't like it because they disappeared and we've not had any problem in the 5 years since.
