How to Cover Walls With Fabric Using Liquid Starch
The stiffer the fabric the more likely the project will be successful.
Fabric with a backing is more suitable than with no backing.
If the fabric content of the material you are using contains any polyester, it will not absorb liquid starch evenly.

I haven't tried this myself but I've heard liquid starch works to adhere fabric to the wall and also makes it easily removable.
