We are finally getting success with a few bare patches in our yard. We have TERRIBLE rocky red clay soil under the grass, so we bought a bag of "clay breaker" product at a local nursery. Dug up some of the clay and mixed a little clay breaker in. I also added some of my organic gardening soil for good measure. Then I added EZ seed. Followed the directions on the package...we now have grass sprouting! I love that stuff!!
You first need to get something to retain whatever you put there, without some type of edging/retainer wall everything will wash away....
You can also put down stones or rocks in that area. The rocks should slow down the water and prevent further erosion.
Can you share a photo? What is causing the erosion? Obviously water, but why? Have you considered regrading the area?
