You need open all windows and let the fresh air in. If you have box fans run them so the fan is to the outside. Sometimes something ie mouse, rat, has died in a hidden area. Check plumbing for leaks, esp. the toilets the wax seals can become brittle.

Odo-Ban is an amazing product that eliminates odors, cleans, disinfects, sanitizes, and deodorizes. I buy it at Sam's but you can get it at Walmart.

  • Open every single window and door is a start. There have been many studies over the years stating that most people's homes have worse air quality than outside because they stay indoors with nary a window open on a pleasant day. Another thing to do is wash the walls. I use a vinegar water solution. I do it on a regular basis as I have a house full of pets, but should be done at least a few times a year to keep things fresh. Since I have pets and visiting children, my house is as chemical free as possible. Charcoal, wadded up newspaper, baking soda, fresh coffee grounds also help rid rooms of stale odors. If you live in a humid climate, a damp rid product or dehumidifier will help too. As you can see, you have many options!
