I don't have a large house, but all ceilings are yucky popcorn! I have no where to go with furniture!! Best coverings? Best method? Then what do I do with the ceiling once I get it off? Do I spackle or can I just paint? Thank you!

If your ceilings are in good shape after removing the popcorn, just lightly sand to make sure they are smooth, prime and paint. If you have gouges or tears from removing the popcorn, then you will need to spackle, sand, and paint. Use what I call the "feel" test to see if your surface is smooth. If you run your hand over the area and it feels smooth, then it will look smooth when you paint.

Cover your furniture and floors with drop cloths to protect them from the mess. Then carefully fold the drop cloths up to contain the debris and toss the drop cloths.

I scraped the popcorn ceiling in one room dry and sprayed water first on the next room before scraping. The water helped do a better and easier job. I then did my own texture and painted over that. Both rooms look good. Good luck!
