Can I use rustoleum universal spray paint on my fountain?

I'm refurbishing a fountain I got at a yard sale. I'm going to float put a solar fountain pump in the top but the bottom that used to hold water has lots of holes so I'm going to put plant flowers there. I love the rustoleum universal hammered spray paint but I'm wondering if it will just flake off one I start putting water in the top.

I think it should be fine - although I have to admit I have not done it myself!!

Hi Michele, after painting get a spray sealer and coat it which should help preserve the paint.

What is the material of the fountain? Just be sure to get the proper spray paint ( metal? plastic? etc.) for it to make sure the paint adheres well. When the paint is completely dry, spray on a coat of clear acrylic for added protection. Hope it turns out beautiful for you! :)
