You can just use some type of container to catch the water. One word of caution...don’t change the angle or height of the drain tube. If you do the system may not drain and it will back up in the catch pan and overflow. This will cause water damage depending on where the unit is located. Many are in the attic which means water will flow down and damage the walls.

We have central a/c and where it drips outside we put a container to collect it for watering all the flowers in our planter. Later we planted a holly bush and let it be watered by the a/c directly.

I put a water barrel under one of the window air conditioners, and an old 25 gallon shop vac under the second. I kept the vacuum hose and attached it for water overflow straight into sprinkler can or bucket and sometimes into a new plot of flowers. The hose can be made longer, of course, with additional vacuum attachment hoses.

Any simple container can be used as a collection device. Just insure that you use the water often so you don't create a mosquito breeding area!

Hello a pail will work for this job, a good habit would be to empty it daily, to prevent stagnant water and insect breeding.
