How can I remove smoking odors from my rental?
My husband has Alzheimer's. We have moved to a small rental house so as to make it easier for me, as his caretaker, to keep up with housekeeping, etc. while caring for him. The problem is, his bedroom sometimes smells of cigarette smoke. (We are neither one smokers.) He complains of it, and it also bothers me. Since we are renting, I can't pull up the carpet or paint the walls. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of the smell?

I’ve tried everything, cleaning thoroughly, fabreeze. Mr clean, etc
There is a product, I believe it is called "Ozium". It's not expensive, under $10. Looks like a small container but you only need maybe 2, 1 second sprays. Follow the directions exactly as it is unlike other air freshener products. It will get rid of smoke odors and everything else I've used it for. Good luck.
Buy a quart of primer tinted to the same color that's on the wall. U can paint alot with 1 quart for $12.
Wash the walls with a vinegar water solution. Get the carpets professionally cleaned. Boxes of baking soda, fresh coffee grounds, activated charcoal will all help eliminate lingering odors. Sorry about your husband. Make sure you get time for yourself. Join an Alzheimer's support group. I went through this with my paternal grandmother, my dad and my father in law. Maybe us Febreez on soft furnishings and Shake & Vac on the carpets.
