Is it already covered? Just the seat? Or all of it? Need a picture please.

IF the wooden bench is has an overhang of an inch or so all around, you can put a 2 or 3 inch foam piece cut to fit the top on the seat of the bench. Wrap a larger piece of batting over it to soften the edges and provide more cushioning. Cover with fabric, then staple or tack around the edge on the underside of that overhang.

If you use a staple gun, please know that if the bench is a hardwood one, you might have to hammer in each tack even though it is stuck in because the staple gun might not have enough power to get into the hardwood.

If this bench also has a back, the same procedure applies although you'll probably want to use a 1" foam on the back. You'll have to decide based on how it looks and on how it feels. You'll need to have a place on the back to staple/tack the fabric.

You can find a number of videos on YouTube and might be able to find a bench similar to your own.
