How can I use this piece of glass?

I have a beautiful piece of textured glass left from a business that I closed and I see it as a coffee table. I am having a hard time envisioning the base. It is 29" x 44" and 1/2" thick with polished edges. It is tempered glass so it cannot be drilled or cut in anyway. Attached is a picture. Any suggestions?

A black metal bottom would be fun. Try a thrift shop or a flea market for your purchase.

Thank, I have thought of that, but not easy to find something that will fit the size and show off the pretty glass. Probably need to build something so I am looking for ideas.

Think of a way to use it like a glass wall on the edge of your bathtub, going up toward the ceiling. Chrome tracks should be easy to buy. Good luck!

I would use my diamond tip bits to drill some holes in all 4 corners & 1in each side centered between corners . The a glass etched bits, after using a pencil or non permanent marker draw some that would be beautiful to use glass stain on after etching into the glass. Then on all 4 sides frame it, drill fine holes where you drilled the holes in glass to match in frame then use some chain or rope to hang in a big window in a family room or mater bedroom . Now that is a a piece of glass I'd love to make into a nice piece to show even to myself what i can still do. I do wish you luck & know you you will find perfect project for that glass . šŸ˜€

Thanks for your thoughts. Unfortunately this is tempered glass and you cannot cut, drill, or alter tempered glass - it will shatter into little bits.

  • You could cut wood to fit around the glass for a table. The wood could be stained or painted.
