These DIY pineapple bath bombs are the perfect (no calorie) tropical treat for your skin this summer. Whether you're looking for a fun bath time treat for some summer self care, or you simple need a homemade gift idea, these DIY pineapple bath bombs are guaranteed to add delight to your day.

If you're a fan of bath bombs, then you may be familiar with hidden color bath bombs. They're the bath bombs that are one color on the outside, but when your drop them into water they release a completely different color that's hidden on the inside. Some of these bath bombs even release an entire rainbow of colors!

However, as making rainbow embed bath bombs - like these rainbow bath bomb embeds shown in this tutorial at Soap Deli News blog - requires more time and are technically more challenging, I wanted to share a much simpler bath bomb tutorial with just a single color hidden inside.

Making bath bombs has never been my strong suit. There are a number of factors that go into crafting bombs that can make them more challenging than they need to be. The quality of your molds, the humidity and even the ingredients you choose. You also need to pack bath bombs a specific way so they stay in one piece. (If you've ever made bath bombs, then you may be familiar with making round bath bombs that end up in two half circles instead of a solid sphere.)

Therefore, I formulated my DIY pineapple bath bombs in a way that helps guarantee success. Even if you're a newbie or the humidity is right up there with the summer heat.

You can find my no fail bath bomb recipe I used for these pineapple bath bombs along with tips and tricks for making them by visiting my original post for pineapple hidden color bath bombs on my blog here.

I made my DIY pineapple bath bombs with citric acid and baking soda along with a bit of cream of tartar. There is no SLS or SLSA for extra bubbles in this recipe, however, they fizz beautifully and fill your tub with a lovely ocean blue color.

I also went a little further and added magnesium flakes to my recipe to help relax and soothe sore muscles. While babassu oil (a lovely substitution for coconut oil) and shea butter nourish and condition skin.

To make these bath bombs, you'll begin my melting all the liquid ingredients, then combining them in a large glass bowl. In a separate container, combine all the dry ingredients.

Next, divide the dry ingredients into three separate bowls. Add the bath bomb colorants to each of the three bowls. I used pink green and blue, with the blue being the hidden color inside my pineapple bath bombs. If desired, you can also add a bit of eco-friendly biodegradable glitter.

Now add the liquid bath bomb mixture to each of the containers. Start with one color at a time. Use just enough of the liquid mixture to give the dry ingredients the consistency of wet sand. Mix well to combine then follow with the remaining colors.

To make your DIY pineapple bath bombs, start by loosely piling the green bath bomb mixture into the top portion of the mold. Then loosely fill the bottom portion of the mold with the pink mixture.

Next, gently press – but don’t pack – the pink mixture into the mold. Now loosely add some of the blue bath bomb mixture to the mold on top of the pink mixture. Press it slightly into the pink bath bomb mixture without packing it into the mold.

Follow with a loose pile of pink to cover the blue. Now firmly press and pack the bath bomb into the mold.

Once you’ve made your pineapple hidden color bath bomb, follow with the remainder of the molds, filling the colors as desired.

Allow the bath bombs to dry overnight or over the course of several days depending on the humidity in your area.

Once you unmold your bath bombs, wrap them in foodservice film or plastic wrap. Keep them stored in a cool, dry location until you're ready to use them.
