It could be as simple as having too much sugar in your solution. Use a ratio of 1:4 sugar water.

There’s a cup that holds water that hangs right under the hook. The ants can’t get passed the water. Check accessories where hummingbird feeders are sold.
In that cup on top of the feeder. you can use water or diatamatious earth. I use it on the ground around the feeder and even on the twine or rope that goes up to hang the feeder.
