Chip off old tile, repair drywall as needed, prime than add new.

Old tile will need to be removed. Tiles need a smooth and solid base to adhere. Do what Kelli suggests.

Hi there! Removing old tile can be a bit of a bugger but with a chisel and hammer you can get it all gone. Make sure you have a solid smooth surface to put your new backsplash on!
