having a baby can cost a fortune - decorating their new nursery doesn’t have to!

The Before

A young couple is expecting their first baby in July & we had the pleasure of helping them! Her sister in law offered to gift them their changing table & lucky for me! ..they hated the boring ol’ wood color!

We all know white & gray is trending still and this couple jumped right on that wagon for their design color in the nursery!

The base was first cleaned thoroughly with Dixie Belle White Lightening Cleaner and then came the paint!

Bring on Fluff!

Fluff is a crisp white (without looking like a primer) the contrast with the original hardware was perfect!

Onto the top!

The soon to be parents wanted a weather driftwood look, to mimic the already purchased crib, easy peasy right?!

Crisp whites and driftwood grays were where they saw the room going and I was sure going to make a point for us to deliver!

Their piece was solid, expensive and well, old.. But Dixie Belle to save the day! Dixie Belle products are water-based, No VOCs and work amazingly together!

Create stained driftwood look with paint!

A base of Dixie Belle Driftwood to start, once dry, light coats of a watered down wash of Hurricane gray, dry and then once more with a watered down wash of Driftwood, wiping back before it dried.

The result, a soft washed wood top!

Considering this is a changing table and will be used often and cleaned just as much, a top coat was obvious!

Front and center - Dixie Belles Gator Hide Top Coat! (No, no gators were harmed in the making of this product, but a gator-like water repellent top is just what it’ll give ya!)

3 light coats and poof, transformation complete!

The finished piece!

but tell me, tell me.... how does one change a baby without a cushioned pad no stuff sitting on the top without spilling the baby or having the things spilled on?

did you have to sand this first before you painted? Or will this paint stick to the slick surface.?

Incredible job on this changing table. Looks like a brand new piece of furniture. Love the color combination you chose.
