How to repair solid wood stairs?
Help! Our dog chewed a 3"x 1" chunk out of one of our solid wood basement stairs. What is the best way to repair it- as cheaply as possible, please.

Is it a structural area?
It may be a safety issue if its in an area your stepping on and need complete board replacement.
If you are looking for a strong cosmetic filler than can be drilled or sanded -I have used epoxy putty to repair my broken elliptical pedal and so much more.
Cut the chunk even. Match a piece of wood to fit. Glue and screw it.
