How do I curtail rust on cast iron sink?
I am repurposing a cast iron sink that has some rust on the underside of the lip edges, leaking slightly onto the outside edges of the sink. How do I get rid of the rust? Is there anything I can put on it to keep it from coming back?
thanks,
KD

Hi KD!
Here are some videos that are helpful for the rust!

I have cleaned off the rust, then primed and painted the underside the same color as sink with oil based rust preventive paint.
There is a product you can paint on that actually stops the oxidation and turns the rust back to metal.
My husband had some and used it on a lot of "vintage" metals he wanted to save.
I'm sorry 😔 I don't remember the exact name of the product. Might actually be an automotive paint....we used it on old swing sets, old fashioned metal lawn chairs and tools.
You can almost see it work right before your eyes!
You would still need to paint the upside edge....
Hope this helps.
Try WD-40
I would use Rustoleum Rust Dissolver and a wire brush/steel wool to remove the rust, then repaint with Rustoleum paint for metal
