If its for the house, the vet told me to use borax.... I use 20 Mule Team Laundry Borax in a glass jar with lots of holes poked in the lid, sprinkle on carpets, furniture etc. Leave 3 hours and vacuum up. Empty bag/canister outside in trash.

Then on the pet I use the diatomacous earth in a glass shake jar, and sprinkle and brush into their fur... but not on the face so it gets in eyes or nose.

I have been using plain old baking soda for years. I have used it both in the house and on the dogs/cat in the same way Sharon has described above. I think a 50/50 mix with diatomateous earth might be even better. Since this only kills living fleas, you'll need to repeat in about 3-5 days once the eggs hatch. That will stop the cycle.

I used cedar oil. I got it from a farm supply website, and put 1 cup of cedar oil in a 5 gallon sprayer, added about 2.5 gallons of HOT water, swished it around, and sprayed my whole house (checked for color fastness first). My house smelled like a cedar chest, but I was told that this dissolves the eggs, so they don't hatch, and it kills the adults.

Depending how much you use, not very long. May 12-24hrs???

It gets under the exoskeleton and basically cuts up the fleas or ants etc

I bought the food grade diatomaceous earth at lowes and sometimes walmart has it. It can be used pretty much anywhere.

I also use it around my foundation for ants.

    Reapply after it rains

Some people even ingest it and sprinkle on dog food for natural mineral supplement.

I haven’t been that brave yet.

You absolutely CAN use the DE on pets. Must be the food grade though.
