How to remove rusted, broken off staples from a hardwood floor?

My 100 year old hardwood Flo has suffered Water seeped between the subfloor and the hardwood for some time. Then the staples which were affixing the linoleum to the subfloor dug into the hardwood and some broke off when I was pulling them. There were millions. My kids have been hammering the staple stubs in further but I would like to remove them. Also there is a glue which the furniture sticks to in the summer heat. I’ve tried a heat gun, glue remover and hot water but can’t clean it off. The professional that looked at it refused to touch it. Help?
