Here's a link for fertilizers for roses:
Do you have any idea what type of rose bushes they are?
Hi Judy - YAY my composting friend! Here's a great 101-style article on getting started with composting and everything you ever need to know. Also how we DIY'ed building our compost bin. My Stepson built it for a Boy Scout merit badge. Hope this all helps and happy composting! Hugs, Holly
Judy, Roses LOVE potassium. That means banana peels make your roses verry happy. There are 2 ways that I use banana peels for my roses.
The first way is to simply bury fresh banana peels around the base of your rose bushes. As they decompose, the pitassium will leach into the soil to feed the roses.
The 2nd way to use banana peels is to put the peels in your blender and fill with water. It will look like a mud smoothie. Then pour this mixture around your roses. Either way you choose will work well and your roses will thank you!
Add crushed egg shells to your compost for calcium and sprinkle epsom salts around the base of the roses.
