How can I refinish this solid secretary?

We were hoping to maybe stain (walnutty) this some and may need to paint inside due to the nooks & crannies... thinking chemical stripper and some sanding? Any ideas to finish it off?? Share any photo ideas you may have seen, as well. :)

I have one of these that's almost the same, just the inside looks a little different, but it's done in a dark reddish brown stain, and it is absolutely gorgeous! I love that it looks like it's a dark wood finish but if you look at it certain ways or in the sunlight you can see a little red tint. Mind you I'm partial to dark/cherry stains lol

Use CitriStrip as well as sanding it down - big job but will look great once done!

No - you cannot pressure wash a piece of wood furniture, it will warp and fall apart. You will have to use CitriStrip and scrape the finish off and sand the rest off.

We painted everything but the drawer fronts and the desk front inside and outside black with chalk paint. Then sanded the drawer fronts and the desk front and stained them with a golden oak colored poly urethane. What a striking contrast. Then we sold it for $400. We had found it on a trash pile . Pure profit as we already had the supplies.

Nice piece! Everyone loves a secretary! Update the hardware, trendy or classic ( unless yours is solid brass, I would polish) and add a painted pop of color inside...scalloped area and fronts of dividers. Add a nice colorful tassel to the exterior key. Walnut exterior is classic and will allow it to fit in anywhere... color inside will make you smile.
