Try this..equal parts sugar and borax. The sugar will attract the ants, the borax will kill them.

  • Hi Linda - Those little buggers are relentless, aren't they?!? This is the most effective method and all-natural spray DIY that we use with ants. It's best indoors, but will also work outside with more frequent applications. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

UNCOOKED RICE. Sprinkle some onto the mound & use a little stick to gently scrape over the surface of the mound stirring up the ants. They will eat some & take some for their queen. When they eat it, it will swell in their stomachs & will kill them. Spread the rice over your entire yard heavily too. You could use uncooked rice, oats or pasta. Anything that swells in water & is biodegradable. Hope this helps.

I don't know what it is about Texas but we have ants of every size and shape. We' have tried everything. Rice sounds great if you can keep the birds for eating it.

Yeah, true. Didn't think about that. Try this, dig a hole in the center of the mound about 1-2 inches deep. Plug the hole with the rice. Cover the hole back with some dirt. The ants are activated by the digging & the dirt will cover the rice. That way, the bird's won't get it but those ants will from inside. Whatcha think??
