How to stain pressure treated wood?

I wish to stain pressure treated wood, is there a certain way to do this?

In watching a home improvement show on TV, it was said to wait for about a year before you stain new pressure treated wood used to build something. To test whether it's ready to accept stain, put a few drops of water on one of the boards. If the water is quickly absorbed, the wood is ready to accept stain.
Thru experience we have learned that if you stain or use a type of water repellent on pressure treated wood, you will have do re do it at least every couple of years! Good Luck!!
There aren't any special rules for PT wood vs non treated other than the above stated test to see if it's ready to be stained or painted. True, it will need to be reapplied every few years but IMHO it's so much better than paint that peels.
New install need to wait six months to a year. Use a UV rated deck stain.
I would try a test spot with Gel Stain!
