Why not paint It? Isn't it black? Wire brush and remove rust, spray with Rustoleum rust converter then spray paint with exterior rust resistant paint.
wire brush and olive oil, rub rub rub using food grade oil won't poison plants you put in it. if it has alot of rust mix a little vinegar with the olive oil then use wire brush on it.
