Silica beads work great for absorbing odor and moisture after you have cleaned the mattress with the Hometalk cleaning recipe.

Purchase an urine eliminated product to kill the smell, then rent a carpet shampooer and use the upholstery attachment. Let air dry for several days.

You can use an upholstery attachment for a steam cleaner to deep clean.

As a caregiver, this is one of the cleaning disasters i face frequently. Here are some of the ways I address it. 1) blot up the urine, then sprinkle 20 Mule Team Laundry Borax. 2) put some pet enzyme cleaner in my carpet cleaner reservoir, shampoo it with the carpet cleaner upolstry tool, then put a fan on it to dry it out quick. I use Zep Professional Carpet Cleaning solution that I get at True Value. The pet enzyme cleaner can be Nature's Miracle for any pet section. 3) spray the area with hydrogen peroxide and then sprinkle with baking soda, let sit awhile til dry, then vacuum up. If this happens fequently, buy a mattress pad on Dr. Leonards.com https://www.drleonards.com/quilted-waterproof-bed-pad/22867.cfm?clicksource=search or get some chucks in the store section where they sell Depends, they are 36" rectangles of plastic on the down side, and an absorbant cotton on top,,,,, I put one under the sheet, and one on top. much cheaper at grocery store.... https://www.drleonards.com/disposable-bed-pads/18692.cfm?clicksource=search
