To make a weathered look you do a dry brush technique. Basically you paint the wall your base color, then you take the color you are using to make the weathered look, get a little pain on the brush and dab/wipe it off onto a paper towel or paper or whatever, until there's very little on the brush then apply it to the wall. It's pretty easy once you get going.
