I lived this dressing table, it was exactly what I had in my mind but not the right colour.

So I decided to make it exactly how I wanted it.

Purchased this dresser like this

The paint was chipped and the mirror aged. One of the handles was broken.

But it was so beautiful.

Firstly I unscrewed the parts I could take apart.

As this unit has already been piantef I needed to sand/scuff as much of it off as possible. Especially in the detailed arears to make sure they don't become full of paint, and the detail lost.

Detailing

Once happy with the amount of paint removed, wash down with sugar soap.

Once try apply you paint.

I used a brush this time but on smooth large surfaces such as this w roller works best.

Inside if the drawer

I decided to go for a knob handle rather than a bar.

This meant using wood filler to fill the wholes. Once dried I sanded them down to ensure it was smooth. If needed I repeated until the whole was full and smooth.

I also did this inside of the draw.

Outside if drawer

I also filled the dents repeating the wood filling process.

Painting

After the wood filler has been sanded back, clean again with sugar soap before painting.

I painted the insides of the draws pink to add a bit of extra fun to the unit.

Handles

I opted for these china handles from Tkmaxx

And 2 plain gold ones to mix it up a little from B&Q.

Screw in handles and finish with a top coat

I opted for furniture wax but there ar lots of sprays that you can also use.

With th wax brush on a small amount. Ensuring the wax evenly covered the surface. After 10 minutes buff with a clean cloth taking off the excess wax.

When dry put the unit back together.

Details

I just loved these handles

Then style.....
