How can I remove unwanted weeds from my garden?

Since I have a disablement I can't crawl in my garden to remove weeds. I live ear the center of Amsterdam so a garden is luxurious and fun to sit in on warm days. But weeds keep coming back, Does anybody know a simple, sustainable way to get rid of weeds?

Oh, my granddaughter is in Amsterdam and she too has a garden! I just had a discussion with a friend about this same problem. . . she is 85 and was once a great gardener and now can't tend to her garden. You will need to hire someone.

Take newspapers and line around your plants. Cover with mulch or grass clippings. There will be a few weeds that pop up but most will not plus it will nourish the soil for future plants

  • You can also use cardboard covered with mulch to block the weeds from growing. IT's a great way to reuse boxes.

Yes, you can use cardboard which will break down or...use plastic bags to block off the areas around your plants. Nothing will grow through it. Next cover all the bed with a thick layer of wood mulch. At that point, the only things getting rain and fertilizer are your plants. Occasionally, you can hire a teenager by contacting your area school. Tell them what help you need and ask if they can locate one of their students to recommend. I've always gotten excellent referrals! 😎
