Turn a $1 plastic vase into a modern and colorful piece of summer decor.

Start with a clear plastic vase, a sponge, scissors and paint. Most of these supplies can be found at Dollar Tree.

To get the watermelon on the vase you will use the sponge to stamp the paint.

Cut the sponge into a triangle with a rounded bottom. These can be any size, try to fit a few triangles on each side of the vase. Cut the bottom rounded piece off so you have 2 piece of sponge to make the rind of the watermelon and the pink flesh.

Dip the 2 pieces of sponge into pink and green paint and stamp them onto the glass vase. Repeat this process on each side of the vase and let the paint dry.

Finally, go back with a fine tip paint brush and add black dots to the watermelon stamps to create seeds.

Fill the vase with water, rocks or other decorative filler as well as fresh or faux flowers. You have a summer vase that works on any table all season long.
