    The best and non comical way to get rid of these gnats... I think. is to put about a inch or more of sand on top of the soil. The idea is that when wet the gnats cant get air, also when they try to fly / crawl out of the soil it is like glass and they die... I had a infestation so bad a few years ago. I changed the soil, rinsed the roots, and re potted with fresh soil. Just to find out that the new soil had them too. :( So I put sand on top of each plant. It worked. Until this year with a new plant. Time to get more sand. !!!!
