Can you contact the manufacturer and ask why your couch is pilling? It should not be. Have the make and model numbers in hand when you call.

Short staple fiber is going to “pill” no matter what. All you can do is trim them with a shaver or small shears.
Use one of those sweater shavers. I do it all the time. Works great and takes just a couple of minutes
