How to rid my yard of biting flies and mosquitoes?
we live in a wooded area and have always had a problem with yellow biting flies and mosquitoes. They seem to be getting worse every year. We have 4 acres and can’t enjoy our yard at all during the warmer months.

Hi Sharon, Here is a link to a good article that will help you to control the situation. It says they can come from miles away so getting rid of them completely may not be an option but this article has tips on keeping them away.

You won't be able to control the environment around you, but we found a safe solution that keeps them at bay! Johnson & Johnson makes a Baby oil cream with aloe vera and vitamin E in it that they hate. We cover ourselves, even finish off wiping what is left on our hands on our clothes etc with it and they never bother us anymore. It got very expensive by summer's end ($50 or more per tube) but we found the store brand BAby oil cream had the exact same ingredients in the exact order and tried it for $4 to $6 a tube and it works just as well! The store brand equivalent was Walmart equate. It says aloe vera and vitamin E also and the tube looks very similar in color, make etc.
Mosquito bits and dunks non toxic all organic mosquito control helps with gnats & flies too. For your skin I use 100% pure lavender oil rubbed on me whenever I go outside,if straight oil is too strong add some to spray bottle with water and mix/shake well everytime before you spray. Neem oil works well too here's good site for organic mosquito control https://www.arbico-organics.com/category/pest-solver-guide-mosquitoes
Put up a swallow house and/or bat house! They are fantastic for insect control. With the size of your property, place the bat house away from your house and the parts of the property you use the most.
