    Hi Carol,

You can use straight white vinegar with a few drops of dishwashing detergent, such as Dawn, to kill weeds. Some recipes also suggest adding salt. Salt will kill weeds but it will also ruin the soil so that nothing will grow in that spot. This is great for driveway and sidewalk cracks, but not so good for lawn or garden weeds. Another option is to simply pour boiling water over the weeds. Boiling water will kill them pretty much instantly. Wishing you the best.

You can put down cardboard or layers of wet paper to kill all weeds. We shredded our paper mail, everything including envelopes everything on year, wet it in a bucket and placed it around our cabbages, tomatoes etc. Paper is a GREAT weed stopper and you can roto-til it into the ground after the growing season.
