Are you talking about a grooming stand. You need about a 1 yard x 24" piece of wood rounding off the corners,, then put some non-slip surface like rubber matting on top. Add legs to the height thats workable for you. Then you want a L-shaped pole with a noose with a slide clip on it to go around dogs neck to keep them standing tall while you work, this usually is hollow tube metal in commercial stands with a nylon band like a leash, and some type of clip to secure it to the side of the table nearest to you with the L to about the middle of the table.

Its probably cheaper to buy one.... https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=dog+grooming+stand&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

If your going to show your dog, you could just make a top for your dog cage standing on end, then add clips to hold in place. Lots of people use those folding craft tables when they start out, just glue some non slip rubber mat on top. Then you will need a quiet hair dryer. I used to show afghans, so I know all about grooming.

You teach them that when you are teaching them to sit.

If just wanting them to stand. Have them sit bedside you and reach under their tummy and say stand at the same time you lift up. When they try to sit you repeat command and lift. Remember to praise or treat every time you do it. Using whatever training method you like besy. Some people have used a towel or something to lift but I have always done it by hand. As they get better you can add stay to your command also. Im not a Pro trainer but my dogs do well with this method. Hope this helps.

Pull the leash gently with an upward motion and say up. Reoeat this exercise until the dog understands what you are telling it to do. Your dog wants to please you and youo need to reward with lots of love and encouragement.
