A mole or mold. Are wall concrete, drywall, paneling? First need to deal with why mold is growing. Do you use a dehumidifier? Do you have water leaks? Not knowing wall costruction you can clean with vinegar, use Lysol mildew and mold killer, use a fan to dry out.

Mold on basement walls can be toxic. The spores are spreading into your entire house.

I know, because I’ve been through this and it cost me a lot.

Just killing the mold without removing it, is like killing the rats, but leaving the rat poop there. It is still dangerously unhealthy.

Stop the water infiltration now. Get dehumidifiers in there now. Put HEPA filters in your A/C if you have a FAU.

Get some pros to look at this after using the mold killer.

What is causing the mold first. I used a gallon of water and added ½ cup vinegar & literally mopped the ceiling and walls of a bathroom which needs major leak repair.

  • Hi Carmen - There are several ways to get rid of mold, but most importantly, you need to address the root cause to keep it from returning. This article focuses on the bathroom, but is an overall great article that covers methods of how to remove mold, if bleach is safe to use, and how to prevent it from coming back. Hope this helps!
