You could make it look like a picture window with shears from wall to wall and drapes at each end.

Can you not frame it in like a closet with doors?. Sounds huge, can maybe break it into 2 closets. If not the curtain idea seams reasonable

You could use fabric panels on a plastic PVC pipe or wooden dowel rod, mounted with industrial pipe strap on the outside molding of the closet. For nine feet, you would probably need to divide this space with a separate center or middle brace. What is the height of the closet opening from top to floor? This would determine your fabric yardage or the length of purchased curtains. IKEA has some economical solutions as well.

Put roll up shades at lowest cost possible or a tent style opening in fabric which allows entry by just opening a flap and put up battery lights if light source needed.

I also would suggest putting a curtain rod (or two) and putting lightweight curtains that will go with your room decor. Ikea does have a selection of inexpensive curtains, but I am going to recommend Home Depot for curtain rods. I am selling my home, and replaced my curtain rods from Restoration Hardware ($$$) with ones from HD that looked almost identical. If you like white semi-sheers, look at "Matilda" from Ikea; they're beautiful and inexpensive, 100% cotton. Try to think about ease of function.
