How do I know when my foot-long green beans are ready to pick?

This is the first yr I've grown them so I'm not sure how to tell when they're ripe enough to harvest. Some are very long, but also very thin.

I check by plumpness, not length. When they seem to be thick/plump enough, test one!
You don't want them to get to thick or they'll go to seed.
What variety did you plant? Did you keep the seed packet(s)? They tell you on the back. These sites will help.
